Binter has secured €455 million (US$510 million) in financing for nine Embraer E195-E2 jets that it plans to receive from 2027, a figure that includes four aircraft that were still listed as purchase rights when the airline placed its latest order in July.
The Canary Islands-based carrier signed the financing agreement with Santander, CaixaBank and BBVA. Binter said the nine aircraft will arrive progressively from 2027 and will eventually increase its E195-E2 fleet to 25 jets.
The figure adds a new element to the order announced by Embraer at the Farnborough International Airshow in July. At the time, the Brazilian manufacturer disclosed a firm order for five additional E195-E2s and said Binter had also secured purchase rights for another four aircraft.
Binter now refers to the acquisition of all nine aircraft in its financing announcement, but neither the airline nor Embraer has separately disclosed the conversion of the four purchase rights into firm orders.

Nine aircraft would take E2 fleet to 25
Binter operates the E195-E2 alongside its ATR 72 turboprops, which are used primarily on the airline's short inter-island services in the Canary Islands. The jets allow Binter to serve longer routes that are beyond the practical reach of the ATR fleet.
That has allowed the airline to build a network to mainland Spain and destinations in North and West Africa. Binter also uses the E195-E2 between the islands on flights with higher passenger demand.

Binter became the first European operator of the E195-E2 in 2019. Its aircraft have 132 seats, a slightly less dense configuration than the 136 seats commonly used by other operators.
Its latest financing agreement follows a similar transaction with Santander, CaixaBank and BBVA for six E195-E2s ordered in 2022 and subsequently incorporated into the fleet.
