Textron Aviation has rolled out the 500th Cessna Citation CJ4, reaching a production milestone for a business jet that has remained in continuous production since entering service in 2010.

The aircraft unveiled by the manufacturer is a CJ4 Gen2, while the next-generation CJ4 Gen3 is still awaiting certification. Textron expects approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration later this year.

The CJ4 has reached 500 aircraft built over a period of 16 years. According to GAMA data, deliveries peaked at 48 aircraft in 2011 and have remained relatively steady since then, generally fluctuating between 23 and 33 units per year. Textron delivered 30 CJ4s in 2025, compared with 26 in 2024 and 31 in 2023.

“For more than a decade, customers around the world have chosen the CJ4 for its combination of performance, ease of operation and confidence in the cockpit,” said Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing. “Reaching 500 aircraft built demonstrates the strength of this platform and reinforces our continued investment in the light jet market as we prepare to bring the CJ4 Gen3 to customers.”
