Etihad Airways is close to placing an order for 10 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with an announcement expected during the Farnborough Airshow later this month, according to Reuters.
The news agency, citing industry sources, said negotiations are still underway and cautioned that no agreement has been finalized.

Etihad Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves told Reuters in June that the Abu Dhabi-based airline was evaluating a double-digit order for widebody aircraft but did not identify the model under consideration.
The carrier already operates 47 Dreamliners, comprising 37 Boeing 787-9s and 10 larger 787-10s. Its backlog also includes four additional 787-9s, 19 787-10s and 15 Boeing 777X aircraft awaiting certification.
Neither Reuters nor the sources identified which Dreamliner variant could be included in the new order.

The report comes as Boeing seeks additional sales of the 787 family following recent commercial successes in the Middle East. The manufacturer is also offering customers an enhanced-performance version of the 787-10, although it is unclear whether that aircraft forms part of the discussions with Etihad.
Etihad's long-haul fleet is centered on the Boeing 787 family and also includes Boeing 777-300ERs, Airbus A350-1000s and Airbus A380s.
The airline does not operate intermediate Airbus widebody models such as the A330neo or A350-900, although it previously flew A330 and A340 aircraft.
