Boeing has revised the performance figures for the entire 777X family, increasing the maximum range listed for each variant and pushing the flagship aircraft to as much as 9,500 nautical miles (17,594 km).
The biggest gain came on the passenger 777-8, whose published range rose by 755 nautical miles to 9,500 nautical miles (17,594 km). The model has attracted limited customer interest so far. Boeing plans to introduce the larger 777-9 first, followed by the 777-8 Freighter. The 777-9 increased from 7,285 to 8,000 nautical miles, while the 777-8 Freighter rose from 4,410 to 5,000 nautical miles.

The revised figures increase the 777-8's published range by 8.6%, the 777-9's by 9.8% and the 777-8 Freighter's by 13.4% compared with the previous specifications.
Boeing has not explained what prompted the revised figures or whether they are based on additional flight-test data, updated performance calculations or changes introduced during certification.

The manufacturer also revised the way it presents passenger capacity. Instead of a single seating figure, the 777-8 is now listed with capacity for 350 to 425 passengers, while the larger 777-9 is shown with 375 to 450 seats, reflecting different cabin layouts selected by airline customers.
The updated performance data comes as Boeing continues certification work on the 777-9, the first member of the family expected to enter commercial service. The 777-8 Freighter is scheduled to follow, with the passenger 777-8 planned as the final variant of the program.
The 777X program has secured 652 orders to date. Lufthansa is expected to introduce the first 777-9 into commercial service in 2027 after Boeing completes type certification, which is currently expected by the end of 2026.
