Boeing has completed the final certification flight for the 737 MAX 10, bringing the flight-test campaign for the largest member of the MAX family to an end after years of development and regulatory delays.

The final mission took place with test aircraft 1G003 and evaluated cabin systems, including the lavatory smoke detector and passenger address system. The aircraft departed from and returned to King County International Airport at Boeing Field in Seattle.

According to Boeing, the certification campaign comprised 976 flights, more than 2,060 flight hours and approximately 1,040 hours of ground testing. The program validated a wide range of certification requirements, including the main landing gear, wet-runway braking, maximum-energy rejected takeoffs, the updated engine anti-ice (EAI) system and the enhanced Angle of Attack (eAoA) system.

The program will now focus on completing the remaining Development Assurance Reviews (DARs) and System Safety Assessments (SSAs) before submitting the final documentation to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for regulatory review.

Boeing continues to expect certification of the 737 MAX 10 later this year, followed by the first customer deliveries in 2027.

The MAX 10 is the largest and highest-capacity variant of the 737 MAX family. Depending on cabin configuration, it can accommodate up to 230 passengers and competes with the Airbus A321neo. Through June 2026, Boeing had accumulated 1,533 firm orders for the aircraft.

The flight-test campaign also supported certification of the updated EAI system and the new eAoA system. Boeing plans to introduce both changes on newly built 737 MAX aircraft and retrofit them across the in-service fleet.
