Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed an order for 14 Boeing aircraft, confirming a fleet decision approved earlier this year and marking the airline’s largest purchase to date.
The order includes eight Boeing 787-10s, two Boeing 787-9s and four Boeing 737-8 jets, according to Boeing.
It formalizes a plan approved by the airline’s board in January, when Biman outlined the same mix of aircraft but said the purchase remained subject to negotiations and final terms.

The airline currently operates a fleet of Boeing aircraft including 787-8s, 787-9s, 777s and earlier-generation 737s.

The addition of the 787-10 will introduce the largest variant of the Dreamliner family into Biman’s fleet, while the 737-8 represents its first order for the 737 MAX series.
Biman said the 787-10 will be used on high-demand routes, particularly to the Middle East, while the 787-9 will support long-haul services to Europe and North America. The 737-8 is intended to replace older narrowbody aircraft and expand regional operations.
The airline serves 22 international destinations from Dhaka, including markets in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia and Europe. Its longest route is to Toronto via Istanbul, operated with the 787-9.

The order comes as Bangladesh has sought to strengthen trade ties with the United States, with previous government statements linking aircraft purchases to efforts to reduce the bilateral trade imbalance.
