Airbus received more than twice as many commercial aircraft orders as deliveries during the first half of 2026, extending its backlog as demand continued to outpace production.
The European manufacturer recorded 821 net commercial aircraft orders between January and June while delivering 351 aircraft, increasing its backlog to 9,222 jets from 8,754 a year earlier.

Although deliveries rose from 306 aircraft in the first half of 2025, the figures indicate Airbus continues to sell aircraft faster than it can build them despite gradually increasing production.
The company delivered 44 A220s, 271 A320 family aircraft, 10 A330s and 26 A350s during the six-month period, with the single-aisle A320 family accounting for more than three-quarters of all deliveries.
Production accelerated during the second quarter, when Airbus handed over 256 aircraft compared with 95 in the first three months of the year. The stronger output contributed to higher revenue and profitability during the quarter.

Revenue for the first half increased to €33.2 billion from €29.6 billion a year earlier, while adjusted EBIT rose to €2.7 billion from €2.2 billion. Net income climbed to €2.24 billion from €1.53 billion.
Airbus maintained its full-year guidance, continuing to expect around 870 commercial aircraft deliveries, adjusted EBIT of about €7.5 billion and free cash flow before customer financing of approximately €4.5 billion.
The company said its outlook assumes no additional disruptions affecting global trade, the supply chain or its production activities.
