WestJet is set to become the first airline to receive a Boeing 737 MAX 10 under a long-term lease agreement with Aviation Capital Group (ACG).

The lessor has signed agreements covering 13 aircraft and expects to deliver the world’s first 737 MAX 10 to the Canadian carrier after the type completes certification.

The arrangement is notable because WestJet had been expected to introduce the model through its own direct order for 60 aircraft. ACG, meanwhile, has 50 737 MAX 10s on order and will supply the initial aircraft from its own backlog.

ACG is Boeing’s largest leasing customer for the 737 MAX 10, and WestJet is one of the model’s biggest airline customers.

The 737 MAX 10 is the largest member of the MAX family, with capacity for up to 230 passengers. The aircraft has remained in the certification process for several years and Boeing expects FAA approval before the end of 2026. Certification of the smaller 737 MAX 7 is expected earlier, during the northern summer.

The aircraft has accumulated more than 1,400 orders and competes directly with the Airbus A321neo.
