Riyadh Air announced orders for 34 additional widebody aircraft on the opening day of the Farnborough International Airshow, increasing commitments with both Airbus and Boeing months after launching scheduled passenger service.
The Saudi airline confirmed six more Airbus A350-1000s, increasing its firm order for the type to 31 aircraft. The purchase converts part of the rights secured in an agreement signed last year covering up to 50 A350-1000s.

At the same time, Riyadh Air exercised options for 28 Boeing 787 Dreamliners from its 2023 order. The airline also converted 20 of those aircraft to the larger 787-10, which will join the 787-9 already in service.
Boeing disclosed that 11 of the newly announced aircraft had already been purchased but not previously identified publicly. Once the remaining 17 options become firm orders, Riyadh Air's Dreamliner backlog will reach 67 aircraft.
The latest transactions leave the airline with firm orders for 98 widebody aircraft between the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350-1000, giving Riyadh Air one of the largest order books among recently launched carriers.
The airline has received six 787-9s and currently serves six destinations after beginning commercial flights in June.
Created in 2023 and owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Riyadh Air plans to operate a network of more than 100 destinations. The airline is one of the country's flagship aviation projects as Saudi Arabia seeks to increase international air traffic and tourism under its Vision 2030 economic diversification program.
