LATAM Airlines has revealed a preview of the cabin for its future Airbus A321XLR jets, a single-aisle aircraft that will be used on longer routes, including transoceanic services currently operated by larger aircraft.

The jets, scheduled for delivery from 2027, will seat more than 170 passengers across Premium Business, Economy Plus and Economy cabins. The main feature is the business class section equipped with fully flat VantageSOLO seats from Thompson Aero Seating in a 1-1 layout, giving every passenger direct aisle access.

In economy, the A321XLR will use Recaro R3 seats in a 3-3 configuration. The aircraft will also offer Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity and, for the first time on LATAM’s narrowbody fleet, individual seatback entertainment screens.

With a range of up to 8,700 km (4,700 nautical miles), the A321XLR will allow LATAM to operate longer routes with fewer seats, replacing widebodies in markets where demand does not justify larger aircraft. The model offers more than 50% additional range compared to other members of the A320neo family.

While the airline has not disclosed specific routes, it is expected to use Lima in Peru and Fortaleza in northeastern Brazil as hubs for the A321XLR, given their geographic position closer to North America and Europe.

LATAM has commitments for more than 10 A321XLR aircraft, including firm orders and leased units.

The cabin concept was developed in partnership with PriestmanGoode, focusing on materials, lighting and finishes inspired by South America.

The announcement was made during the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Germany, where the airline presented the first details of the new cabin that will be introduced in the coming years.
