Embraer has appointed Fokker Services Group as an authorized service center for the Royal Netherlands Air Force's future C-390 Millennium fleet. The Dutch company will provide maintenance and technical assistance for the new military transport aircraft.

The agreement also covers operational assistance during the introduction of the C-390 and field service representatives who will work with the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

The appointment comes as the first Dutch C-390 is already in production at Embraer's Gavião Peixoto plant in Brazil. The aircraft has been assigned manufacturer serial number 39000025, although its future military registration has not yet been disclosed.

First delivery planned for 2027

The Netherlands originally ordered five C-390s in 2024 through a joint procurement with Austria. The contract covered nine aircraft, five for the Royal Netherlands Air Force and four for Austria.

The Dutch fleet was subsequently increased to six aircraft. Sweden later joined the same procurement framework, while the Netherlands added one more aircraft to its order.

Deliveries to the Royal Netherlands Air Force are scheduled to begin in 2027. The C-390 will replace the service's four Lockheed Martin C-130H Hercules, including two stretched C-130H-30s.

Existing ties between Fokker and Embraer

Fokker's relationship with Embraer predates the Dutch C-390 order. Fokker Services Group became an authorized service center for the E-Jet family in 2021 at its Woensdrecht facility and added the E2 family in 2023.

The companies signed an MoU in 2022 to explore cooperation on defense projects, including activities related to the C-390.

Fokker Elmo, another company within the group, supplies electrical wiring systems for Embraer aircraft, including the C-390.
