BermudAir has ordered 10 Airbus A220-300s, becoming a new Airbus customer after launching operations less than three years ago with Embraer regional jets.
The order, which Airbus booked in March under an undisclosed customer, was formally announced on Wednesday at the Farnborough International Airshow.

The airline currently operates two leased Embraer E175s with 88 seats and two leased E190s configured with eight business and 88 economy seats. All four aircraft were acquired on the second-hand market.
The A220-300 represents a significant change in BermudAir’s fleet strategy. With 135 seats in a three-class layout, the aircraft is considerably larger than the airline’s current E-Jets and will require the introduction of a new aircraft type, along with additional maintenance, training and support infrastructure.
Airbus and BermudAir did not say whether the A220s will replace the existing Embraer fleet or operate alongside the E175s and E190s.
“The A220 is the ideal aircraft to support the next phase of BermudAir’s growth,” founder and CEO Adam Scott said.
The airline launched operations in 2023 and built its network around Embraer aircraft serving Bermuda, the U.S. East Coast and destinations in Canada and the Caribbean. The decision to introduce the A220 comes despite the availability of Embraer’s newer E2 family, which would have allowed the carrier to remain within the E-Jet platform while adding capacity.
