Airbus has opened a new delivery center at its Jean-Luc Lagardère site in Toulouse, according to French media reports, as the manufacturer expands infrastructure around two A320 Family final assembly lines now operating inside the former A380 production complex.
La Tribune reported that the new facility covers more than 377,000 sq ft (35,000 sq m) and provides 16 aircraft positions close to the final assembly lines, eight more than were available before its construction. The center also includes a new hall for technical adjustments and finishing work before aircraft are handed over to customers.
The facility is intended primarily to support the growing number of A321neos assembled in Toulouse. Florent Massou, Airbus executive vice president of operations for commercial aircraft, told the French newspaper that customers are pressing the manufacturer to deliver aircraft more quickly amid an overall backlog of more than 9,000 aircraft.
Eight aircraft can be handled simultaneously
Engineering company Egis, which worked on the project, separately identified the facility as Delivery Centre L14. Earlier this month, it said the 138,000-sq-ft (12,800-sq-m) building would allow eight A320 Family aircraft to be handled simultaneously for delivery directly from the Jean-Luc Lagardère site.
The figures refer to different parts of the project: La Tribune reported more than 377,000 sq ft (35,000 sq m) for the new delivery center and 16 aircraft positions across the facility, while Egis specified 138,000 sq ft (12,800 sq m) for the L14 building and simultaneous handling of eight aircraft.
Egis provided engineering and construction supervision for the project alongside REC Architecture and contractors including Demathieu Bard Construction Sud-Ouest and Colas. Days before the reported opening, the engineering company described the facility as part of Airbus' broader industrial transformation program in Toulouse.
Former A380 site
The delivery center is the latest stage in the conversion of the Jean-Luc Lagardère complex, originally built for final assembly of the A380.
Airbus opened the first A320 Family final assembly line there in 2023. A second line entered operation in June 2026, which increased the site's capacity to assemble A321neos as the manufacturer works toward a production rate of 75 A320 Family aircraft per month.
The A321neo accounts for a large share of that workload. Airbus had 7,577 undelivered A320 Family aircraft at the end of August, based on its latest orders and deliveries data. Of those, 5,691 were A321neos, equivalent to about 75% of the single-aisle backlog.
