Air Peace has taken delivery of its first Embraer E175, adding another member of the E-Jet family to its fleet.

The aircraft will be used to increase flight frequencies on existing routes within Nigeria while supporting the launch of services to four additional destinations in Africa, according to Embraer.

The delivery further expands Air Peace's Embraer fleet. The airline already operates ERJ-145 regional jets, first-generation E190 and E195 aircraft, and has also taken delivery of E195-E2 jets.

The E175 gives the airline another capacity option for markets that do not require larger aircraft, allowing it to match demand while maintaining frequency on thinner routes.

Embraer said demand for regional aircraft is expected to grow across Africa as airlines seek to improve connectivity between cities that still lack nonstop service. In its latest African Connectivity Report, the manufacturer identified 55 city pairs across the continent that remain without direct flights.

Founded in 2014, Air Peace has become Nigeria's largest airline, serving about 20 destinations with a fleet that ranges from regional jets to Boeing 737s, Boeing 777s and Airbus A320-family aircraft. The carrier operates domestic flights throughout Nigeria as well as international services to destinations in West Africa, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

The airline also owns regional operator Air Peace Hopper and holds a majority stake in LIAT Air, giving it a presence in both West Africa and the Caribbean.
