The carrier Yemenia Airways lost two Airbus A320 jets and an A330 during an airstrike by the Israeli Air Force on Tuesday.

The aircraft were parked at Sana’a International Airport, the capital of Yemen. Images and videos shared on social media show the jets being consumed by fire.

According to reports, the aircraft were A330-200 registration 7O-AFE, which had been leased by AFG in 2022, A320s 7O-AFA and 7O-AFC.

Of these, only A320 7O-AFC had been parked for several months at the site while the other two jets had landed in Sana’a days ago.

Yemeni authorities have had to shut down operations at the airport due to the damage caused by the attack. It is understood the jets had been taken over by the Houthi rebel group.

The Israeli strike comes days after Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport was hit by missiles fired by the group, which is backed by Iran.

Despite the loss, Yemenia Airways continued to operate some flights with the remaining A320 fleet.

One of the aircraft operated flights from Aden to Riyadh and Cairo while another operated routes to Jeddah and Mukalla in the last few hours and a third was in Amman, Jordan.
