Uzbekistan Airways and Boeing confirmed an additional firm order for eight 787 Dreamliners during the C5+1 Summit in Washington, DC.

The agreement, converting previous options to confirmed orders, was signed in the presence of U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov.

The Uzbek flag carrier is increasing its total 787 order to 22 aircraft, consolidating its international network expansion strategy. This move is part of efforts to enhance capacity on long-haul routes.

In September, Uzbekistan Airways ordered 14 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners as part of its fleet modernization plans. The new aircraft will join an existing fleet of seven 787-8 jets delivered since 2016.

Currently, Uzbekistan Airways remains the only airline operating the Dreamliner family in Central Asia. The carrier utilizes the 787 for both regional and intercontinental services.
