If it has not yet convinced the United States to pass on some Lockheed Martin F-16 fighters to its air force, Ukraine at least already has a new American aircraft.
Military Intelligence Aviation, linked to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, revealed that it had received a Sikorsky UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter.
The aircraft emerged alongside a Mil Mi-24 helicopter and members of the special operations service.
According to a post on government social media, “Combat helicopters significantly increase the capabilities of special units of the Department of General Intelligence of Ukraine and the efficiency of special operations.”
It was not explained what the origin of the Black Hawk is, which is certainly a second-hand aircraft. The helicopter has a black livery with the Ukrainian flag and a coat of arms applied to the sides.
The Black Hawk is one of the most popular military helicopters in history. Recently, Sikorsky delivered its 5,000th unit, a UH-60M Black Hawk received by the US Army, which debuted in 1979.
A replacement for the also famous UH-1 Iroquois, the Black Hawk is in service in at least 36 countries, including China and now also Ukraine.
