One of the two KC-390 Millenniums of the Portuguese Air Force (FAP) suffered an incident on May 22 when a service truck from Lisbon Airport hit the tip of the aircraft’s left wing.
The impact tore off part of the structure, where the signal lights are located, as shown in images shared on social media.
The KC-390 had arrived in the Portuguese capital from Beja, where its air base is located. The second jet of the type also landed in Lisbon later.

The aircraft would be the first of five ordered by Portugal, with registration FAP 26901 and delivered in October 2023.
The Portuguese Air Force’s KC-390s are part of Squadron 506 “Rhinoceros” and have been carrying out numerous missions since they entered service.
Portugal is expected to receive the third aircraft, FAP 26903, which is in production at Embraer’s facilities in Gavião Peixoto, Brazil, soon.
The manufacturer currently has 42 orders and purchase intentions for the aircraft. Customers include Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, South Korea and an undisclosed country.
