STARLUX Airlines has unveiled its second Airbus A350-1000 featuring a special livery designed by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama, this time with a gold metallic finish.

The aircraft, registered B-58554, was seen leaving the paint shop in Toulouse fully coated in a reflective gold scheme applied across the fuselage and engines. It is the second jet in the AIRSORAYAMA series, following a silver-painted A350-1000 revealed in March.

Both aircraft are part of a collaboration between the Taiwanese airline and Sorayama, known for his metallic and futuristic visual style. The designs aim to create a “liquid metal” appearance, achieved through multiple layers of specialized paint.

The coating was developed with Airbus and German manufacturer Mankiewicz, using high-concentration mica pigments to produce the reflective effect while meeting aviation requirements.

STARLUX has said the two aircraft are expected to be delivered and enter service in the third quarter of 2026.

The airline currently operates a fleet of 30 Airbus aircraft, including A321neo, A330-900 and A350-900 models, along with one A350-1000 already in service. It has additional aircraft on order as it expands long-haul operations from its Taipei base.
