Royal Air Maroc receives first Boeing 787-9

Moroccan airline launches new livery and internal layout with jet that will take its long distance routes

Boeing delivered on December 11 the first of four 787-9 Dreamliner jets to Royal Air Maroc, which already operates the smaller version of the 787-8 aircraft.

With the new plane, which is capable of carrying 302 passengers in two classes, the Moroccan airline will fly to destinations such as Paris, New York and Sao Paulo (Brazil).

To celebrate the delivery, Royal Air Maroc presented a new livery that honors the culture of his country. The company has also introduced a new, more sophisticated interior, which features three business-class seating options such as full flat and full privacy.

“The Dreamliner is the perfect platform for Royal Air Maroc’s bold vision.” The airline is now taking advantage of the technology that is common across the 787-8 and 787-9, while tailoring its network based on market demand, “said Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president of Commercial Sales & Marketing for The Boeing Company.

“We are particularly pleased to receive today our 787-9 airline, which will soon be joined by three other models from the same family.” The choice of this aircraft forms part of our strategy to continuously expand and modernize our fleet, and eat just a few days after the announcement of the invitation made to Royal Air Maroc to join the highly prestigious Oneworld Alliance, “says Abdelhamid Addou, CEO and Chairman of Royal Air Maroc.

The airline is undergoing a period of expansion and modernization that includes the delivery of the first Boeing 737 MAX by the end of the year.
