Qatar Airways has finally launched its long-awaited service to Colombia and Venezuela, almost two years after first announcing the route and following several delays.

Flight QR783 departed Doha on Wednesday, November 4, for Bogotá before continuing to Caracas and returning nonstop from the Venezuelan capital to Qatar. The triangular service operates twice weekly with a Boeing 777-200LR.

The operation makes Qatar Airways the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela and creates the first nonstop air connection between Caracas and the Middle East. Bogotá also gains its first nonstop service from the region, although Emirates already serves the Colombian capital via Miami.

Qatar first announced Bogotá and Caracas in January 2025, with flights expected to begin later that year. The launch did not take place as planned and was subsequently rescheduled for July 22, 2026, before being postponed again.

Triangular route

The entire operation carries the QR783 flight number and follows the Doha-Bogotá-Caracas-Doha routing on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The 777-200LR leaves Doha at 7:35 a.m. and arrives in Bogotá at 4:25 p.m. local time. It departs at 5:55 p.m. for Caracas, arriving at 9 p.m., before leaving Venezuela at 11:30 p.m. for the nonstop flight to Doha.

As a result, Bogotá has a nonstop link from Doha, while Caracas has the nonstop sector in the opposite direction.

In Colombia, Emirates has served Bogotá since 2024 with a Boeing 777 from Dubai via Miami. Qatar therefore becomes the first airline to operate nonstop between the Colombian capital and the Middle East.

Venezuela's international connectivity has been recovering since the fall of Nicolás Maduro and the reopening of the country's airspace earlier this year. The process was interrupted by two powerful earthquakes on June 24 that closed Caracas' main airport until September 1, forcing airlines to suspend or temporarily relocate flights while damaged infrastructure was repaired.
