Portugal’s first KC-390 returns to Embraer for final delivery preparations

Aircraft was in Europe for several months participating in events and testing NATO equipment that will be used by the Portuguese Air Force

The first KC-390 Millennium of the Portuguese Air Force (FAP) returned to Brazil for final preparations for delivery by Embraer, scheduled for September.

The aircraft with civil registration PT-ZDK was in Europe for several months, participating in events such as the Paris Air Show and also performing tests of NATO equipment that will be used by the air force.

The KC-390 took off from Évora, in Portugal, are located, on July 20, made technical stopovers in Espargos and Recife until landing in São José dos Campos.

The first KC-390 for Portugal in Beja (FAP)

The Portuguese Air Force has ordered five multi-mission aircraft that will be operated at Air Base nº 11, in Beja. The first KC-390 will receive the military designation 26901, according to the Passaro de Ferro outlet.

Portugal was the first foreign customer of the C-390 Millennium in 2019. The country was already an industrial partner in the program and the order was expected, especially due to Embraer’s investments in its subsidiaries, which produce important parts of the aircraft.

In addition to Portugal and Brazil, which ordered 28 planes, but canceled nine of them, Hungary acquired two KC-390s and the Netherlands selected the Millennium and should sign a contract for five aircraft.
