Marathon Airlines has added an Embraer E195 to its fleet, with the aircraft set to operate for Aeroitalia under a leasing model in which the airline provides aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance — known in the industry as ACMI.
The aircraft, registered SX-LUX, is configured with 118 seats in a two-class layout, with business and economy cabins. It was delivered in an all-white livery, a standard configuration that allows repainting according to the customer’s brand.
SX-LUX is expected to enter service shortly, supporting Aeroitalia’s operations as part of a long-term agreement between the two companies.
“Welcoming SX-LUX to our fleet is another important step in Marathon Airlines’ growth journey,” said CEO Andreas K. “Each new aircraft strengthens our ability to support our partners with flexible and reliable solutions, while also moving us closer to our vision of expanding into new markets and territories.”

The E195 has had multiple operators over its lifetime. Originally delivered to Azul in 2010, the aircraft was later used in cargo operations before being transferred to lessor Azorra in August 2023. It was then placed with Luminwings the following month, where it remained until March 2026, when Azorra reassigned the jet to Marathon Airlines.
Marathon Airlines is a Greece-based carrier focused on leasing aircraft and operational services to other airlines. With the addition of the new jet, its fleet now includes four Embraer E-Jets: one E175 with 88 seats, one E190 with 100 seats and two E195 aircraft configured with 118 seats.
The airline has sought to rebuild its operations after losing a contract with Air Serbia in 2024 following an incident involving an E195 operated on behalf of the carrier. The aircraft suffered damage after a runway excursion during takeoff in Belgrade, although no injuries were reported. Air Serbia later turned to other providers and added its own E-Jets to support operations.
