Indonesia has taken delivery of its second and final Airbus A400M, completing the order placed in 2021 for the Indonesian Air Force.
The aircraft, registered A-4002, was produced at Airbus Defence and Space’s final assembly line in Seville, Spain, and arrived in Jakarta after a multi-leg ferry flight spanning Europe, North America and Asia.
Flight tracking data shows stops including Seville, St. John’s, Whitehorse, Hakodate and Tarakan before reaching Halim Air Base.
The second A400M is equipped with hose-and-drogue aerial refueling pods, expanding its role beyond transport to include tanker missions.
Indonesia became the tenth operator of the A400M with the arrival of its first aircraft, part of a contract that also includes training and support services. The fleet is intended to support cargo transport, troop movement, medical evacuation and humanitarian operations.

The A400M can carry up to 37 tonnes and operate from short and unpaved runways, giving it flexibility across Indonesia’s archipelagic geography. The air force has also evaluated the use of a modular firefighting kit capable of deploying up to 20,000 liters of water or retardant.
With this delivery, the global A400M fleet reaches 132 aircraft in service since the type entered operations in 2014.
