Mongolian carrier Hunnu Air has ordered the country’s first Beechcraft King Air 360 turboprop, continuing an unusual fleet expansion strategy that mixes regional jets with smaller utility aircraft.

Textron Aviation said the aircraft is expected to be delivered at the end of 2027 and will be used for tourism flights, VIP transport and regional services within Mongolia.

The order adds another aircraft type to Hunnu Air’s eclectic fleet, which already includes leased Embraer E190 and E195-E2 jets alongside ATR 42 turboprops and Cessna Caravan aircraft.

Last year, the airline also became the first customer in Asia for the Cessna SkyCourier after ordering two passenger-configured examples plus an additional Grand Caravan EX.

The expansion reflects the operational challenges of Mongolia’s aviation market, where airlines often combine larger jets for international and trunk domestic routes with smaller aircraft capable of serving remote destinations with limited infrastructure.

Hunnu Air drew international attention in 2025 after introducing the Embraer E195-E2, becoming one of the few operators of the new-generation regional jet in Asia.

The twin-turboprop King Air family has been in production since the 1960s and remains widely used for regional transport, medical evacuation, surveillance and business aviation missions worldwide.
