Hamad Airport is the best in the world, according to SkyTrax; check out the list of the top 100

Doha international airport beat Singapore Changi in the 2024 awards. The United States had more airports listed

Hamad International Airport, in Doha, Qatar, was named the best in the world by the World Airports Awards 2024 ranking, by the organization SkyTrax.

According to the award, the airport surpassed Singapore Changi, which had been voted the best in 2023 and is in 2nd position this year.

The list of the top 10 also has Seoul Incheon in 3rd place, followed by the two Tokyo airports, Haneda and Narita.

The best placed European airport was Charles de Gaulle, in Paris (6th place) while Dubai Airport was the 7th best, 10 positions above 2023.

In China, the best rated airport was Hong Kong, in 11th place, while Seattle-Tacoma Airport appeared in 24th as the best in the United States.

Japan with several airports in the top 100

The United States led in the number of airports in the ranking of the 100 best, with 15 air terminals listed.

Japan came in 2nd place, with eight airports, followed closely by China, with seven locations.

Australia and Germany had six nominations while India had five and Saudi Arabia four.

Tokyo Haneda Airport (Simply Aviation)

The largest moving airports in Europe, Heathrow in London comes in 21st while Istanbul Airport is in 10th place.

On other continents, South Africa stood out with three airports among the 100, the best of which is Cape Town, in 54th place.

In South America, only the airports of El Dorado (Bogotá), in 39th place, and Quito (Ecuador), in 41st, were mentioned.

More than 570 airports evaluated

The World Airports Awards have been held since 1999 and the biggest winner is Changi Airport, in Singapore, with 12 awards.

More than 570 airports are evaluated annually through forms completed by more than 100 nationalities of airport customers during the research period, which ran from August 2023 to March 2024.

According to SkyTrax, the research evaluated the customer experience across all key performance indicators of airport services and products – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security/immigration to boarding at the gate.
