The French Navy will replace its fleet of Falcon 10 MER aircraft with three Pilatus PC-24 jets under a leasing contract, with deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2027.
This decision results from a tender initiated in May 2024, which had the Embraer Phenom 300 and the Swiss model as finalists.
The Falcon 10 MERs, in operation for over five decades (since 1973), are used for training and liaison missions but face limitations due to their advanced age. The new contract, signed with Jet Aviation, aims to update the fleet with aircraft that meet current training and military operations requirements.

The 57S Squadron, based in Landivisiau, will be responsible for operating the PC-24s. According to the tender, the main objective is to enhance naval pilot training, especially in instrument flying and military procedures, strengthening the infrastructure for French naval aviation training.
The Pilatus PC-24 is known for its ability to operate on short and unpaved runways. The jet can carry up to 10 passengers, has a range of 3,610 km, and a maximum cruise speed of 787 km/h. Its modular cabin allows adaptation for different missions, such as medical transport or special operations.
The PC-24’s cockpit, developed in partnership with Honeywell, incorporates safety systems such as flight control with tactile feedback, automatic slip compensation, and advancements in avionics. These features aim to enhance safety and reduce pilot workload during training missions.
