easyJet places order for 56 A3202neo family jets

Agreement includes the conversion of 18 A320neos to the largest A321neos and makes the airline the largest operator of the Airbus model

Airbus finally announced a larger order for commercial aircraft in Farnborough on Wednesday. Low-cost easyJet confirmed the order for 56 jets of the A320neo family.

According to the manufacturer, 18 of them were changed from the A320neo model to the A321neo, with greater capacity and currently the most requested by customers.

“We believe this order will support positive returns for the business and the delivery of our strategic objectives. The new aircraft are aligned with easyJet’s sustainability strategy, with the adoption of the more efficient new technology aircraft being a core component of easyJet’s path to net zero emissions,” said Kenton Jarvis, CFO for easyJet.

“easyJet has democratised flying for millions of travellers and we are delighted this latest agreement for 56 A320neo Family aircraft not only future proofs its growth as traffic rebounds, but also lays the foundations for its sustainability journey”, said Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International.

The transaction will make easyJet the largest operator of Airbus single-aisle aircraft in the world. The airline currently has more than 300 aircraft in the A320 family, including older models such as the A319 and A320 as well as the new A320neo and A321neo.
