The Cathay Pacific group signed a contract extension with Airbus in which it added 32 more A320neo family aircraft.
The new order includes both the A320neo and A321neo, but the two companies did not detail quantities by model.
The aircraft will be used by Cathay Pacific, but also by the subsidiary HK Express. According to Airbus, the jets will serve destinations in mainland China and also in the Asian region.
“Cathay is one of the world’s leading airline Groups and we are proud to be part of its recovery and growth plan,” said Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer.
Cathay Pacific already had an initial order for 32 A320neo family jets, of which 13 were delivered, most of them the A321neo model.
HK Express has a fleet of 29 A320 family aircraft, including 17 of the first generation.
