Brazilian Air Force takes delivery of 13th H-36 Caracal heavy helicopter

Model H225M was delivered by Helibras, Airbus’ subsidiary in Brazil and is part of an order for 15 aircraft

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) incorporated the 13th H-36 Caracal heavy helicopter this week. The aircraft, manufactured by Helibras (part of the Airbus group) was delivered in its headquarters in Itajuba.

Designated FAB-8522, the H225M model helicopter is part of the H-XBR project, which ordered 47 helicopters for the three forces (the Navy and Army also count the aircraft).

The FAB will allocate the H-36 Caracal to the First Squadron of the Eighth Aviation Group (1st/8th GAV) – Falcão Squadron, headquartered in Natal.

The helicopter has an in-flight refueling capacity, performed using a probe with KC-390 and KC-130 aircraft, allowing for extended autonomy.

“This receipt demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the FAB to modernize its fleet and maintain a high standard of operational readiness, guaranteeing the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies and in military defense operations in the country,” said Air Brigadier General Antonio Luiz Godoy Soares Mioni Rodrigues, who heads the Coordinating Committee of the Combat Aircraft Program (COPAC).
