ATR has delivered a new ATR 72-600 to Linhas Aéreas de Cabo Verde (LACV), the state-owned airline operating domestic flights across Cape Verde under the CVsky brand.

The aircraft, registered D4-CCP, was formally delivered at ATR's facilities in Toulouse on October 7 and is the first of two new ATR 72-600s scheduled to join the carrier under lease agreements.

D4-CCP is being painted in CVsky colors in France and is expected to arrive in Cape Verde by the end of October.

The aircraft is leased from Singapore-based Avation, which confirmed that the operating lease is backed by a sovereign guarantee from the Cape Verde government. The transaction also makes CVsky a new customer for the lessor.

CVsky currently operates two ATR 72-600s, D4-CCM and D4-CCN, both configured with 74 seats. The aircraft were manufactured in 2018 and joined the airline in 2025.

The airline uses the turboprops on domestic services linking the islands of the Cape Verde archipelago, where short sectors dominate the network. According to ATR, the average domestic flight lasts about 36 minutes.

The type also allows CVsky to serve airports with relatively short runways, including Maio, São Nicolau and Fogo, whose runways measure approximately 1,200, 1,400 and 1,500 meters, respectively.

ATR aircraft have operated in Cape Verde for more than three decades. The manufacturer said the first ATR 42-320 arrived in the country in November 1994.

CVsky was established in 2024 to provide domestic passenger and cargo services and is wholly owned by the Cape Verde government. The airline received its Air Operator Certificate in December 2025 and now handles inter-island services previously dependent on other operators.
