AirJapan, the new Japanese airline, is revealed by ANA

The company belongs to All Nippon Airways and will start flying at the end of the year as a leisure carrier

All Nippon Airways (ANA) presented on Tuesday AirJapan, a new subsidiary of the group focused on operating in the leisure segment.

The airline will have a medium-haul network that will be serviced with Boeing 787-8 jets transferred by ANA. The maiden flight will take place at the end of 2022, according to a company statement.

AirJapan had already been announced in October 2020 but only now its logo and strategy have been revealed. According to ANA, the new carrier will not be a low-cost carrier. “The new airline will offer customers a variety of options in its services rooted in the Japanese culture as well as a comfortable cabin space at an affordable price,” the company explained.

The launch date and initial routes are still being studied while ANA monitors trends in the recovery of demand for international flights.

Despite this, it is estimated that AirJapan will fly to destinations in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The size of the fleet is also unknown, but based on All Nippon Airways’ existing Boeing 787-8s (36 aircraft), the amount should not be that large initially.

All Nippon Airways will supply the aircraft for AirJapan (ANA)
